  Vale Phillip Hughes, killed playing cricket

  i can't see that there's a posting about the tragic death of australian cricketer, phillip hughes last week.

  he was an extraordinary talent, grew up on a cattle farm and, by all accounts, was a thoroughly decent and happy 25 year old man.. he missed hitting a ball bowled at him and was struck by it in the neck: the rock hard ball would have been travelling at about 85km/h.

  the blow ruptured an artery causing too much blood to flow into his brain.

  Watched Sunday, JW's at my door 30 mins later!!

  i watched sunday this morning, then was on my way out 30 minutes later but guess who was at my doorstep?

  smooth jw elder and a little boy!

  i was very controlled, and had the choice of letting my identity as "an opposed person" or whatever be known, or to retain my cover as an ordinary member of the public!

  JW's protected from Tsunami by going to the meeting... from bethel

  came across this from one of the "faithfull".... now just watch out now you inactive ones there's a tsunami looking for you, so just be sure you "keep you eyes on the prize ocean".

  just spoke to [some bethalite at a bethhell near you] last night.. she was telling us of the news regarding our brothers and sisters in the tsunami region.

  in one area all the brothers were at the meeting when it struck, except for one sister who was home sick and a 6 member family of inactive ones who were caught up in it because they hadn't gone to the meeting.

  mmm... we live not that far from flores and there local indigenous people say they won't go to certain spots becuase of 'the little people'... there are also artworks on some cave walls that noone knows who did... mmmm.... .

  Vale: an athiest politician

  most politicians portray themselves as believers... but today one government leader got some credit... he was an athiest and his funeral wasn't in a church or cathederal... it was at local concert hall - no god, no hymns, no prayers... a true athiest funeral of an athiest politician... .

  according to the report 'in keeping with mr bacon's wishes, today's funeral service was not religious but one of music and celebration.

  Open Letter to JW's on Anti-Religion web site

  some others have posted about this strong anti-religion (spoof?

  ) site in other posts, but it seems that the jw reaction is so strong (to the suggested 'ban religion' resolution at the un) as to prompt the author to post an open letter to jw's in the news page that starts like this www.formulism.org/news.html.

  actually, the whole site reads like it's designed to hook jw's... open letter to jehovah's witnesses - 1st feb 04. over the past few days i have received literally dozens of e-mails from jehovah's witnesses.

  we escaped jw'dom a few years ago and have recently bought a home about 250km from where we lived about 10 years ago.. near encounters of the third kind.

  imagine my fright in the local hardware mega-store when i just managed to dodge a sister from our old congo in the poaint section!!!!

  that night, i put on the tv and the commercial for a firm of builders i'd thought of using came on - the local contact was the sister's husband!!!
